San José del Cabo is the Los Cabos municipal government seat and is known as the more tranquil of the two larger cities in Los Cabos. It is home to an internationally protected wetland estuary, the culmination of the freshwater river that flows from the mountains.

San José del Cabo, a quaint colonial town with authentic Mexican architecture, is the cultural heart of Los Cabos. Streets here are lined with art galleries, cafes, boutiques and fine restaurants. San José is also known for its beautiful estuary, home to 150 species of birds.

San Jose del Cabo Art Walk is a popular weekly event held every Thursday evening from 5-9pm between the months of November and June. This event was established, promoted and organized by the Gallery District Association in the hopes of drawing art lovers and tourists away from the Main Square and into our color-filled back streets.

Zippers and La Roca surf breaks, with competitions held every summer. Services here include restaurants, a convenience store, occasional board rentals and lessons on the beach, and Surf Shop across the highway. Zippers and nearby La Roca are intermediate to expert surf breaks, and dangerous for beginners.
